Earn money by writing online

I was once in your shoes where I have tons of ideas but I have no idea where to post them. I was hunting high and low, reading those stuffs on Google and Yahoo! and trying to figure out which is the best out there. I have personally written for a few months (yes I am still an amateur) but I would want to share my experience and I hope this can help you guys out there especially for those who just started writing.

1. Triond
This is one of my favorite website for Pay Per Click (PPC). Besides that, earnings can be increased from advertisements on the entire article posted with a little help of Google Adsense. I earn nearly zero for the first two months being there as I was new and got my SEO and tags all messed up. According to Google Adsense report, I seen many Page Impression from Triond itself and it is a very good move. Article posted in Triond will be published in a few different websites which are basically monitored by Triond. Therefore, the chance of your articles being spotted are huge. Triond only allow original articles to be posted. So, make sure your articles are genuine and you will be just fine.

The down side is the forum. Most of the people at the forum are 'just hanging out'. If you are looking for an answer, some replies will be short and none related. Don't be too down on it since it is normal but bear in mind, there are some who will post important information and replies to your question.

2. Hubpages
Hubpages is a website where serious writers normally gather. The articles there are good and spams are not allowed. Each article is called a hub and writers who have less graphic skills will not have to worry about trying to 'decorate' the page. There are many modules you choose from. For example, you can add on photos in between of paragraphs, videos, links and even eBay and Amazon ads. You can move the text box to the left or right and eventually, creating your unique style. From the point of earning, there are four affiliations earnings that you can gain revenue from. One good thing about Hubpages is that once you publish your article, people will tend to read and you can see your earnings go up slowly but surely. As for Hubpages, articles posted must be original. You may post duplicate contend but do remember that you might not be eligible for the revenue sharing on certain cases. As for tag lines, Hubpages allow unlimited tags which can be the turning point which makes Hubpages stand higher from the rest. Always remember that the more tags you got, the better your chance of being picked up on the Internet.

The downside of Hubpages (I don't really consider a downside though) is that many veteran writers are there. Lots of good articles are there and believe me that you will get one hell of a competition. However, be reminded that the more we try, the better we become.

3. Squidoo

Squidoo is just alike Hubpages. If you will search on Google, you can see there are various pages and discussions on the topic. Personally, marketing wise, I would believe they are the same. Traffics are based on SEO, taglines and a little luck. I myself write for Squidoo too since it seems to be a very fun website to write. It has a few affiliation programs to choose from and you can even donate the revenue gained to charity of your choice. In Squidoo, articles are posted in lens instead of hubs. You will be given a choice to choose pictures, videos and ads to put into your article to male it attractive. You have no option to move the text box left or right (only up and down) but you can choose various types of 'add-on' for your lens which makes up for it.

The downside of Squidoo is I personally noticed that traffic generated automatically without the help of promoting is slightly harder. As for the tags, Squidoo only allow 40 tags to be included in each lens. Comparing to Hubpages, this might be a downside towards Squidoo. However, if you can choose and assign their tagline, it will not be a big problem to you.

4. Wikinut

Wikinut is a fun website where many writers repost their content. The simple reason is Wikinut allows reposting as long as you are the original writer. Wikinut is a simple and fun website to work from. It is basically one of the easiest website I have encountered and for newcomers; it is indeed a fun place to write.

The downside I feel about this website is the marketing strategies. Your article is not going to get much readership unless you really try to promote it. You can leave the article for a couple of days and it might only have a few visitors. This can easily be overcome by having followers and they will look at your postings.

5. Bukisa

Writers also use Bukisa a lot as it is about the same with Wikinut. It has no regulation as reposting is allowed. Earning will be tough here and you can also earn money through royalties and introduction of other writers.

The downside of Bukisa is that I feel articles posted over there will have a hard time finding its way through the search engines. Many writers consider Bukisa as their side income. Therefore, you will only start to feel the earning after sometime and with a number of posts.

6. Factoidz
If you write genuine articles only, Factoidz is the one for you. Earning is great here and readership community is always around. You can earn various bonuses and it works on PPC methods. Factoidz only accept original content and you will not be allowed to delete the post. Once you are a much higher ranking writer (you got to earn the title), then you can easily edit your SEO or articles to make them up to date.

The downside of Factoidz is huge. One of the main reason is there is virtually no support team to assist. If you are having problem, you can only hope for an answer from the forum and admins seldom reply to emails. You can be ‘demoted’ back to Member which only allows you to read the topic but unable to create a new article without any notice. I myself have a bad experience there as I was earning a lot of money with just two weeks of registering. I was being flagged by readers as some think I was generating ‘illegal’ traffics to my articles. Emails after emails and never ever got a reply back from admin. If you are planning to write for Factoidz, remember to write with care and my personal advise is make sure you do not create ‘suspicions’ even though you are not doing any wrong.

7. Xomba
Xomba is another writing website which I liked. I started writing for Xomba and it was my first place where I started. You will get good ‘pick up’ from both Google and Yahoo! and I believe it is a good thing. Xomba does not work on PPC but it only works on Google Adsense. Xomba is one of the best places for a newbie writer to start from. You can get much experience from there and you can start build your readership from scratch. Xomba has also no restriction on
re-posting. Therefore, to get an additional income via Google Adsense, Xomba is indeed a good choice.

The downside is obvious here. You can get thousands of readers and visits but without much clicks on Google Adsense ads, you won’t be generating much income. The above are the top 7 best sites I have ever encountered. However, there are many other websites out there if you would like to try such as eHow.com, Associate Content, Suite101, Helium and Constant-Content. These websites are more to serious and experience writers and quality is being focus a lot here.

Expect many rejected if you are still new in writing but do not give up and try harder.

Writing is always a hard job from the starting but as it goes by, it will be much easier. I hope this post will help you in deciding which websites to write for and what you can choose. If you need any help, feel free to contact me and I will try my best to help out.

Good luck!

I enjoyed your hub. Thanks for the list of sites. I write on some of them but had not heard of Wikinut. Another site that you may want to check out is InfoBarrel. They are only two years old and already a PR4.

Hi wife who saves

Thank you for your comment. Glad you liked it. Wikinut was introducted to me by my friend and it was fun to use. As for infobarrel, I actually have an account there. However, not really fond of the user-friendly thing over there.

However, I will do a hub about Infobarrel soon :)

Thank you for your time reading too!

God job. A lot of info on this one. But I guess I'll always be a journalist at heart, and a proofreader. I found a few mistakes in grammar. Other than that, I enjoyed it very much. Thanks

Excellent information. I also write for suit101 and Ezines. They are more for experienced writers. Suite 101 has pretty specific guidelines and rules, but have loosened up a bit. They require that you cite your sources. Ezines is a great place to write if you wish for people to find out more about your services, products, expertise. There is a source box at the end of your article where you can give your website addresses to draw people to your other related stuff. Thanks again. I will look into some of these things.
